Meet John Davis

John Davis, currently serving his second term as mayor of Swansboro, is a prominent local figure known for his dedicated service and leadership in the community. A resident of Swansboro for over 20 years, Davis has a deep connection to the town, understanding the needs and aspirations of its residents. He and his wife, Jennifer, have been married for 31 years and have three grown children who all graduated from Onslow County Schools. John holds a degree in electrical engineering from NC State University.

Davis’s tenure as mayor of Swansboro has been marked by significant achievements. He successfully led initiatives to improve the town’s infrastructure, ushering in the construction of sidewalks to foster connectivity. Under his leadership, Swansboro has been awarded nine million dollars from the state to construct an emergency operations center. As a local small business owner, he is a fierce advocate for the business community, ensuring that regulations are well-balanced between residents and business owners.

John continues to be a strong advocate for local schools, working closely with Swansboro area schools to ensure they receive the local support necessary for success. He has also demonstrated his commitment to local parks and recreation by supporting the revitalization of Swansboro waterfront parks.

Davis’s civic engagement extends beyond his political roles. He maintains a business membership in the Swansboro Area Chamber of Commerce and serves on the advisory board for Hope is Alive, a national residential addiction recovery organization with a presence in Onslow County. Davis is also an active member of Eastview Baptist Church.

As a candidate for county commissioner, John Davis aims to expand his impact. His campaign focuses on decreasing county taxes, improving regional economic development, increasing access to mental health and addiction recovery services, enhancing services for local veterans, and prioritizing emergency response times for outlying areas.
